SUMMARY:Weathering Change with Meteorologist David Epstein
DESCRIPTION:Weathering Change:  Small Steps\, Real Connection & a Livable Planet.  \nJoin Boston Globe Columnist and WGBH Morning Edition Meteorologist David Epstein for a thought-provoking and optimistic conversation about our changing climate\, our connection to the natural world\, and why the small choices we make everyday matter. \nEpstein has spent his career watching the sky\, tracking storms\, and paying close attention to what’s changing. In this presentation\, he steps back from the forecast to explore something bigger: how we see ourselves in relation to the natural world and the impact of our daily actions. \nClimate change is part of the conversation\, but so is something more hopeful. Epstein makes the case that we are not separate from nature\, we are part of it\, and that the small choices we make each day matter: planting native species\, appreciating our yards and Medfield’s open spaces\, and living lighter on the earth. Not because any one of them solves the problem\, but because they change how we live inside it. \nExpect science\, humor\, some hard truths\, and a genuinely optimistic path forward. \nResidents of Medfield and surrounding communities are invited to attend. \nDavid Epstein is the Morning Edition meteorologist for WGBH and a weather columnist for the Boston Globe. He graduated from Colby College and studied meteorology at Lyndon State College. He also holds a master’s degree in education and an MBA from Boston College. \nThe evening is presented by Sustainable Medfield with funding from the Medfield Foundation’s Legacy Fund\, which gives grants to community nonprofit causes\, supporting Medfield today and over the long term. Sustainable Medfield is an initiative of the Medfield Foundation. Go to MedfieldFoundation.org to learn more. \n \nThank you to the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund!  \nAbout our Speaker……\n \nDavid Epstein has been a meteorologist and horticulturalist for over 35 years. SUMMARY:Reclaim your Roots: How Native Plants save Time and Money
DESCRIPTION:Discover how to identify and safely remove invasive plants\, how to find native alternatives to invasives and how replacing lawns and annuals with native perennials can save you time and money. \nDo you dream of a profusion of flowering perennials and shrubs in your yard? Sick of watering\, raking\, weeding? \nPlease come to Neal Sanders’ presentation “Reclaim Your Roots: How Native Plants Can Save you Money and Time”\, Thursday September 30 at 6:30 at the Medfield Public Safety Building\, 112 North St. \nLocal resident and nationally known author\, Neal Sanders will present – with a great deal of humor and personal experience– the benefits of using native plants to establish your own show stopping landscape without the heartache.
